4/29/15- 3 Looks to Transition Your Winter Items into Spring

1430353910694Finally starting to see the sun again around here and that means either A) buying a whole new wardrobe or B) reusing pieces you wore in the colder months in this weird in-between weather. I think it’s safe to say that a lot of us are in the option B category. So, I created three spring-ready looks that incorporate pieces that are wintery or not necessarily spring.

#1- The Thermal Tee

IMG_0783You wore this with leggings, jeans, boots, and a heavy coat twice your weight. It was your go to shirt when it was super cold and miserable outside. How are you supposed to wear this now?

IMG_0777

Hat= Forever 21

Top and Shoes=Free People

Lace Shorts=Pac Sun

Tada! The super wintery thermal gets a update! You can skip a jacket with this one and be perfectly comfortable in the cold morning and not too hot during the day and night. The trendy black hat with the lace shorts give the look an effortless festival vibe.

#2- The Flannel

IMG_0790Who doesn’t have a flannel in their closet? Perfect for layering during the colder months, it is a staple that everyone has. Plaid is usually a fall/winter pattern, so how do we make this springy?

IMG_0794Babydoll Dress= Brandy Melville

Flannel=Forever 21

Dr. Martens= Journeys

Use your flannel with a super adorable baby doll dress in the same color family as your flannel for a cute mix and match look! Paired with some combat boots like my Dr. Martens here, the perfect 90’s grunge look is complete!

#3-The Sweater

IMG_0803The super warm, very fuzzy, sweater. What you put on when you want to look cute but you are very lazy, so you just pair it with leggings, boots and you are head out into the cold. How does the fuzzy sweater translate into spring?

IMG_0795

Sweater= H&M

Romper= Wet Seal

Flats= Urban Outfitters

Fuzzy sweater paired with floral romper= match made in heaven. It is a super retro look, especially when paired with flats. Rompers/jumpsuits are also having a major comeback, with 70’s inspired looks popping up on runways everywhere.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had a lot of fun laying out the outfits. Also, I apologize for some of the kooky lighting in the pictures today, my dorm lights just didn’t want to work with me today lol.

4/25/15 Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe Haul

1430002011054I had a super good day at the mall today! Last couple of times I’ve been into Forever 21, I’ve been really disappointed, but I found some super cute stuff and an entire outfit for my Rolling Stones concert this summer! So here is what I got:

Rolling Stones Halter Top

IMG_0760 IMG_0761Super obsessed with this! From the color to the halter tie, it is perfect. The mustard color will carry into fall as well, which is a plus. With a lacy bralette to peek out underneath it, this might become my new favorite top.

Printed Elephant Pants

IMG_0762 IMG_0765 IMG_0764These flowy, printed pants started to become trendy last year, but now they are in full force and what’s not to love? They are super comfortable and silky soft, and with wedges or just flip flops, they will look good with everything! I liked these because they matched the top I got and the elephants and flowered print was just too cute. They were also the perfect length, which can be tricky with pants like these because personally I don’t want to have to wear wedges all the time just so I’m not dragging the fabric on the ground.

Concho Rimmed Hat

IMG_0754 IMG_0755Like printed pants, black fedora like hats are literally everywhere these days. I’m not that big of an hat person, with my recent Princess and Babe hat purchase being the first time I’ve really worn/bought a hat since I was little, but this hat is amazing for the price. Not to big, but not to small, with the concho accents, it is perfect for me. I thought the silver would limit me, as I tend to wear gold a lot more often, but it actually goes really well with other metals so this is definitely a summer essential.

Stackable Rings and Bracelets

IMG_0767 IMG_0768I’m a sucker for a 2 for $10 deal. These are super cute though, so I don’t feel too bad about being sucked into store promotions. I’m too scared to buy midi rings because I don’t know if my fingers will ever fit in them, so I gravitated towards these stackable rings. I can wear all of them on one hand and be accessorized enough, or just pick and chose one to wear. They will also look good with these bracelets, which kinda have the same idea behind them with the you can wear one or all at once kind of thing. My favorite ones are the moon and star bracelets. They are very ‘festival’.

Overall, I think I had a pretty successful shopping trip without spending a lot of money!

4/24/15 OOTD

1429926147970Mock Neck Top- Forever 21

High Waisted Jeans and Ballet Flats- Urban Outfitters

Watch- Fossil

Glasses- Michael Kors

IMG_0737Weird half walking half posing shot that I really like for some reason lol. Lately I have been obsessed with super vintage inspired outfits, especially 60’s inspired stuff (like the mock neck top I’m wearing here).

What are your thoughts on vintage inspired looks? Should styles stay in the past or does nothing ever truly go out of style?

IMG_0706This is like my millionth time wearing these jeans but I’m still super obsessed with them and the whole distressed updated Mom jean look. Also, my new shirt from TWLOHA is super comfy and cool. It kinda reminds me of Coldplay’s Magic single art, which heavily influenced me getting it lol.

4/21/15 Ultimate Selfie Guide

1429655813773I know how ridiculous some of these might look in public, but you are going to have to just deal with stares from everyone because the selfie you will get with these will blow everyone else’s out of the water.

Hi, I’m Chloe, and I’m a self-proclaimed selfie expert. Through extensive research and training, I have found the best things to use whenever wherever for all devices (I’m an Android user, so I know the this-is-only-made-for-Iphone-struggle all too well)

#1-Selfie Stick

IMG_0698Yes you might look like a tourist but this is the best tool to use. Full outfit shots, wide angle shots, or simply getting all of your friends in a picture, the selfie stick is the way to go. I got mine above at the Dollar Store for $5, so there is no reason not to get one. Only regret I have is not getting one with a button on it, because it gets cumbersome having to set the timer then extend it, but then again most of the sticks with buttons are only compatible with iPhones.

#2- Selfie Button

IMG_0699 IMG_0701

Another $5 Dollar Store find. Super easy to use (it connects via Bluetooth) and cute mint green color, there was no way I could not pick this up. It solved my problem with my non-button stick and its also great for just taking pictures without the stick. Sometimes you just can’t hit that camera button no matter how weird you position your hands on your phone. Also, if you are ashamed of using a button, its easy to hide and doesn’t have to be in the frame. (You shouldn’t be ashamed though. I get more questions as to where I got my selfie stuff in public than disapproving glares)

#3- Selfie Lens

c700x420 47126

Currently don’t have this, but this will be my next purchase, as I’m seeing more and more concert venues and other public places banning selfie sticks :(. The lens simply clips onto your phone and connects via an app, available for both Android and iPhone. The before and after pics come from the iStyle Selfie Lens brand, but I’m sure any brand of selfie lens’s will have the same effect. A pro about this versus the selfie stick is that this can fit in any purse or bag, while the selfie stick is hard to put into even my biggest cross body.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had almost as much fun writing it as I do using all my gear in public. What are your thoughts on all this selfie stuff?

4/19/15 VS PINK, Michael Kors, Research and Design Haul

1429482557195So happy to do a haul post! They are my favorite kind of post to do lol. Its really the only time I get to use my big DSLR camera, so I’m happy whenever I get to use it.

IMG_0674

First thing I got is from Research and Design, and if you haven’t been living under a rock, you know what a Lokai bracelet is. It’s a clear stretch bracelet with one bead filled with water from Mt. Everest and one bead filled with mud from the Dead Sea. The bracelet is supposed to represent balance, having substances from the lowest and highest points of the world. I’m super happy I was able to get one, after seeing them everywhere online and in person. It will go with literally everything and I won’t have to take it off while working out!

Victoria’s Secret PINK Cage Bra

IMG_0677 IMG_0679Super excited about this purchase! This came out awhile ago online but not in stores, and it sold out instantly, and I can clearly see why. This fits super well, and can be worn alone or as a bralette would. The logo straps are going to be super cute peeking out under tanks this summer!

VS PINK Ultimate Full Zip Jacket

IMG_0691 IMG_0692

Anything with the word ‘Ultimate’ in front of it from PINK is worth buying. The quality is unmatchable. This is light enough to work out in, but will also go good with jeans or leggings. I love the white color and the heather grey accents on the sides. It’s so versatile and can be and will be worn 24/7.

Michael Kors Tropical Track Pants

IMG_0684 IMG_0681 Track pants, joggers, fashionable sweatpants, whatever you want to call them, are spring’s new it item. Effortless and cool, these can be worn with anything. Grab heels when you want to dress it up, gladiator sandals to dress down, the possibilities are endless. I knew as soon as I saw these that I needed them. I love the print and the colors. I can go head to toe monochrome with this or add a pop of color. Super excited to wear these out and about!

Michael Kors Slide On Sandals

IMG_0696Last item from the haul are these insanely comfortable slide on sandals. I’m sure all of us at some point had those Adidas slip ons with those bumpy things on the bottom that made your feet hurt after 20 minutes. These slip ons are far from those. Easy to put on, bold, and will pair nicely with shorts to maxi dresses, these are the new summer shoe.

4/18/15- Run For It 5K: To Write Love On Her Arms

1429406672798

Today, I did a 5K for a super cool organization called To Write Love on Her Arms (in a super pretty location I might add)

20150418_184430 20150418_194404 20150418_201134

If you don’t know what To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) is, it is a non profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and to end the social stigma against mental illness and addiction. It first got it’s start when a group of friends helped their friend, who was struggling with bipolar disorder and drug addiction, get clean before she was allowed into rehab. It is such an inspiring story and you can read the full story here.

Personally, I’ve known about the organization for a while, but haven’t really gotten involved with it until now. My school has it’s own local chapter, which I just joined this semester. Before joining, it honestly hasn’t hit me that so many people struggle or know someone that has struggled with anxiety, depression, and mental illness. This is the main point of the organization. Why don’t we talk about it? Why does everything have to be secretive and hush hush, like battling depression is such a scandalous dirty secret?

TWLOHA talks about this concept using the terms “sharing your story”. Sharing what you have been through is a way to heal, and with a social stigma that exists around these conditions today, it is more important than ever. Sharing your story is a way to not only heal yourself, but also give hope to others. Hope is always possible, there is a light at the end of every tunnel.

I’m so glad that I have the opportunity to be involved in TWLOHA and to spread the message it has. It has made me see life differently. It taught be that being vulnerable sometimes is okay, and keeping emotions bottled in is not healthy. Granted, I haven’t struggled with mental illness or addiction myself, but we all go through tough things, and no struggle is small or insignificant.

20150418_185753 My fellow members in my local club aka the best people you will ever meet.

I can gush about how cool TWLOHA is all day, but if you want more information you can go to their blog here and read through it! There is also a movie that chronicles how it started with Chad Michael Murray in it which is also worth checking out 🙂

4/17/15- SHOPJEEN Review

1429314773281

So after months of looking through SHOPJEEN’s website and going through their Insta feed 24/7, I finally decided to get something from there!

I’m not much of a hat person. Actually, the closest I come to wearing a hat is a beanie. But when I saw these two, I knew I had to get them.

IMG_0648 IMG_0649

These are so adorable and Barbie like and I’m head over heels in love. I will be wearing these all summer non stop. The pastel colors combined with the ‘Babe’ and ‘Princess” on them was just too much to resist. The hats also fit really well, with an adjustable piece in the back if you need it.

Both hats were $25, which is a bit pricey but I got free shipping since my order was over $50 and it came in literally 3 days after I ordered it, which was super cool.

IMG_0651 IMG_0658 I think the Babe one might be my favorite 🙂

I’m super pleased with SHOPJEEN and I’m definitely going to order from there again! Have any of you guys ordered from there? I’d love to know!

4/16/15- How I Stay Healthy in College

1429222035246

I’ve been super busy the past couple days, hence the the lack of posts, but I somehow managed to find time to work out everyday and not eat super processed stuff, and a bunch of my friends were asking how do I do it especially with the whole stressful college thing. So here is how I do it:

#1 Magic Bullet Protein Shakes/Smoothies

As seen in the pic above, this literally saved me. They take 5 seconds to make and are packed with super good stuff. Usually, I just put water/coconut water, frozen berries, hemp protein/protein powder, chia seeds, and flaxseeds, put it on the bullet, and done! The bullet can do other things, like make alfredo sauce or chop up vegetables as well, which would be good if your dorm/building has a stove but unfortunately mine does not :(. Anyways, this shake is soooo much better than grabbing a soda from your mini fridge/cafeteria and tastes a whole lot better too! It’s a perfect after the gym snack as well.

#2 Actually Go to the Gym

Ok so I’m a second semester freshman currently and during the entire first semester I didn’t set foot in the gym once. Now, I go everyday, twice on Mondays and Wednesdays for Zumba, and I have never felt better. All I do is 30 minutes of cardio, then stretch, and then go about the rest of my day, which is usually homework. I’m so much more focused to do homework after I go to the gym than when I don’t go. And if you don’t like just doing machines, check out the classes! I was afraid of making a fool of myself at Zumba in front of god knows how many people, but now it’s my friends and I’s tradition to go.

#3 Know the Cafeteria

Every school should have a vegetarian/gluten free section, and I end up going there most of the time. These aren’t processed or full of chemicals and calories like the other sections of the cafeteria that serve hamburgers 24/7. Having good stuff in your body allows you to do good stuff. Occasionally, I’ll go to the ice cream bar and get ice cream, but I never feel bad about it or anything sweet/unhealthy because I work out everyday and since I eat well most of the time, so the cafeteria is not so bad after all. Also, this is a great place to steal fruit and bring it back to your room. I currently have a giant stockpile of bananas in my fridge from there.

#4 Stay Stress Free

This may sound like a well duh! thing to do, but honestly some people don’t know how to do it. If I’m feeling stressed, I tend to not want to do anything, from gym to homework. Stress affects everyone at some point or another. From procrastinating on that huge paper combined with eating junk and not going to the gym is going to make you super stressed and not on your A-game. So, take things one at a time. Spread your homework out, make sure you always have time in your day to just relax and do nothing. Put your phone down and go talk to your neighbors and friends. It seems so easy, but it’s actually kinda difficult to do, but it’s worth it in the end.

I know I intended this to be a fashion blog, and it still is going to be mainly that, but what do you guys think about these kinds of posts? Is this something you’d like to see more often or not? I’d love to know! (Also I feel really old now, I still can’t believe I’m almost done with my first year at college omg)

4/13/15- Festival Inspired Bralettes

1428964529709Today was 70 degrees for the first time since last year, so naturally I put on one of my favorite outfits, an oversized tee with a pretty bralette peeking out (both from Free People). So it got me thinking about how I kinda need to stock up on some more, and so I made a list of some affordable, nice bralettes that will go with anything:

Cage Back Push Up Bralette- Victoria’s Secret PINK

Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 4.05.08 PM Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 4.05.27 PM

I definitely plan on getting this soon. It looks like it fits super well, and it’s super cute. With an open back shirt or maybe even just alone with high waisted palazzo pants, this will go with anything.

Floral Lace Crop Top from Forever 21

Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 5.47.28 PM Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 5.47.16 PM Forever 21 doesn’t list this as a bralette, but I think it falls in the same category lol. I love this one because there’s underwire for more support and a variety of colors. The plum and teal are my favorites, but there are neutral and red colors on their site. These can easily be layered under sweaters in the fall and worn with a light flannel or alone now. I also just love the ornate pattern on these.

Gallon Lace Halter Bra- Free People

Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 4.07.58 PM Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 4.08.10 PMI am wearing this bra in the rust color in the cover photo and it is my favorite. I love the halter and how it peeks out of most of my tops. I don’t tend to wear this one if I’m wearing a actual halter top because I like to show off how cute it is to the world. Tons of different colors on their site, and I plan to get other colors. Maybe I’ll just get them all and make a bralette rainbow.

Kimichi Blue Allover Scalloped Lace Bralette from Urban Outfitters

Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 5.56.33 PMThis one is on my wish list. This pale blue color seems to be the new it color for the season. Light and springy, this will be worn throughout spring into the summer. A t-back and a halter makes it perfect for under airy tanks.

As soon as Coachella hits, I become obsessed with the festival boho look, layering necklaces and wearing flare elephant pants lol. Am I the only one or am I just weird??? (Probably the later)
